Providing Frisco with Prenatal Care
Prenatal care is vital to the health of both the mother and the baby. Once you have a positive pregnancy test at home an appointment should be scheduled around 8 weeks unless problems arise before that time.
Routine prenatal care includes an initial visit to confirm the pregnancy and perform a sonogram. After this time, appointments will be scheduled approximately every 4 weeks for the first and second trimester, every 2 weeks from 28-36 weeks, and weekly for the last month of the pregnancy. If questions or concerns arise between your regularly scheduled visit, please do not hesitate to call.
As endorsed by the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, an anatomy sonogram will be performed at 20 weeks to look at all parts of the baby. In addition, Dr. Mitchell will take a quick peek a month prior to the scheduled sonogram to evaluate the gender if desired. Dr. Mitchell also takes the time to do an extra sonogram around 36 weeks to make sure that the baby is in the right position and achieve an estimated weight.
It’s hard to know what to expect, but with professional guidance and comprehensive prenatal care, Dr. Mitchell can help you feel more comfortable and relaxed throughout your pregnancy and ease any fears you might have. She wants this to feel like a joyous and wondrous process.
